My name is Marcus Karlsen and I am born in 1973. After
having earned a Master's Degree in mathematics from the Norwegian Institute of Technology
in 1998, I have been working as a scientist at the Norwegian Defence
Research Establishment.
I currently make my home in Tønsberg, Norway, were
I spend most of my time dreaming of being in some remote corner of the world in
search of adventures and good images.
On our first journey I took a lot of pictures, but the photographs did not turn out quite as
good as I would have liked to. I decided to improve my
photography and began educating myself by studying the work
of established photographers and reading how-to articles. We are
now working as freelance journalists, publishing pictures and
travel stories in the Norwegian
travel magazine Zine Travel
and other Norwegian magazines. Some of
my pictures taken on our travels around the world can be seen on
the gallery section of this site.
