The oldest desert in the world, the
Namib,
is reputed to contain some of the world's highest
and most picturesque dunes. The road to Sossusvlei,
a huge ephemeral pan set amid up to 300 meter high
red sand dunes, meanders through the usually dry
valley created by the Tsauchab River. The valley is
lined on both sides by magnificent red sand dunes,
and is a sight not to be missed.
